What is Ann Arbor Design Day?

Companies like design agencies, individual designers, and other design organizations at the university collaborate on one day to bring unique experiences to the public.

My task

As I was assigned this account, I started with designing the branding and wireframing ideas that could be used for the website. Our goal was to:

  • communicate excitement and interest upon first arrival to the website with brief information about what the event is and the details

  • efficient and clear navigation for people using the website as their guide to attending events throughout the day.

  • encompass the creative atmosphere of the event and the diverse voices and experiences the attendees will have at the event.

  • for use on mobile and desktop devices

Pivot

  1. some members of my team pointed out that the graphics are working, but didn't think that it followed accessibility guidelines due to the lack of clarity about point of interaction.

  2. There was not enough information explaining the event itself

  3. The president noted that he desired a more grid-like structure as an aesthetic motif.

Final Prototype

Final Prototype

  1. Used the grid system to organize the navigation

  2. Used scale of the boxes to indicate hierarchy of information

  3. Removed the "hidden button" features entirely

  4. retained interactive elements, whilst remaining user friendly
